Sight Unseen OFFSITE 2018: Ben & Aja Blanc will present new work at the flagship store of 3.1 Phillip Lim. Aesthetic function in relation to human form, material, and texture is explored in the release of their new collection of furniture. Shearling, oak, and mirror are the primary materials highlighting the inherent beauty of these juxtaposed materials. The exhibition will pay homage to the proportions of Donald Judd and the surrealism of Meret Oppenheim.
Ben & Aja Blanc design and produce sculptural lighting, furniture, and objects
for the world’s most sought-after interior designers and discerning collectors of
contemporary design. Their objects are reflective of a rich personal creative practice
- infusing their work with a stark, modern style paired with handcrafted technique.
At the heart of the studio is the use of natural elements and rich materials, creating
work that celebrates design frisson – an elegant balance of beauty and functionality.
Together, their work and design process reflects a mutual pursuit of beauty through
creation of form and refinement of material, along with a perpetual attraction to
collection and curation. Their work has been featured in Architectural Digest,
Vogue, Elle Décor, and The New York Times, amongst others.
